And so the brief action sequence has ended, but, even though Tigress’ four students are nowhere near the Furious Five’s in their parallel opening in KFP, she handles it in a more encouraging manner than Master Shifu did. Speaking of, the old master has made his appearance, and apparently his inner peace has made him quite the prankster in his old age. Wonder why he’s shown up, though. After all, he’s a busy panda, being the grandmaster of kung fu and all.

So this page we get a little taste of action. Obviously, it’s meant to parallel the Furious Five’s introductory scene in Kung Fu Panda. Of course, these four are fairly green compared to the old Five so they’re not doing anywhere near as well. Of course, the Furious Five To Be are referred to, generally, by their species/genus name, which I presume is something like their surname or a descriptive name that everyone just calls them by. So, our character list so far is Master Tigress, Deer, Ibis, Lutung (while call langurs, lutungs are in their own separate genus from “true langurs”), and Xióngmāo (Mandarin word for panda, but literally means “bear cat,” which seems more fitting here). I know it’s not super easy to tell, them being only barely anthropomorphize animals, but the only male here is Master Deer. Don’t worry, he’ll get a new guy buddy soon enough. By the way, the font I’m using for the dialogue is China Cat.

Breaking news: The D.C. Appeals Court just killed Net Neutrality.

This could be the end of the Internet as we know it. But it doesn’t have to be.

Tell the FCC to restore Net Neutrality: http://bit.ly/1iOOjoe

they want to make the internet like tv. with channels and paying to get to specific websites and things. net neutrality = not doing that

This impacts every internet user. Please signal boost the hell out of this and sign the petition if you are American

I do not reblog things like this very often, but this affects me both personally and my business as a freelance artist.

In the economy here; cash is already strapped as it is. You bet your ass companies would suck the ever living life out of misc. art sites.

I don’t want it to ever come down to me choosing between groceries or purchasing a new tier package via comcast to be able to access tumblr or DeviantArt (let alone not guaranteeing I’ll even be seen by my customer base since they may not want to pay out their asses either). It doesn’t seem important to most, but I do 90% of my business online entirely.

Please sign up, fight for this and share it with your followers/friends/family and urge them to give them hell as well.

Not writing related, but this is incredibly important. While we pay for service via ISPs, the internet has been a relatively free space where everyone, no matter their income level, is able to connect, access a wealth of information, and express themselves. The Internet has become a major part of our culture as human beings and the notion that ISPs might be able to limit what sites I can access unless I pay them more is utterly sickening. A lot of us are cash strapped as is, and I’d rather not be limited even more by someone else’s greed. Net Neutrality is essential and I hope you guys will understand why it needs to remain.

-Morgan

P.S. Signal boost this if you’re able.

I broke down and decided to make my own KFP comic. There is an unfortunate dearth of them as opposed to MLP comics. This is going to be based in the movie universe, which includes Kung Fu Panda, Kung Fu Panda 2, Secrets of the Furious Five, the Holiday Special, and Secret of the Masters as canon. I might include some ideas from the TV series, but I find the comedic sociopath personalities of Po and Tigress to be too far from their portrayal in the movies to work here, especially since I’m about to push some serious Tipo (spoilers!). Hopefully I’ll be able to update soon, but it did take me a full day of work on my day off to finish this, and I am pretty busy, so we’ll see how it goes from here.

For those wondering what animals are depicted (aside from the obvious in Tigress), from left to right:
Qinling panda (color mutation in a small population of pandas similar to how some Bengal tigers are white)
Francois’ langur (cutest monkey)
Crested ibis (nice hair?)
Water deer (yes, they seriously have fangs and it’s awesome)

Cover requested by JDMiles and hs11-art for their fanfiction, My Little Pony Next Generation: The New Harmony based in Kilala97's Kilalaverse. The top art is the original with all poses basically thought up on my own, but I was told to basically redraw Next Gen by Kilala97  with slight modifications (I ended up keeping T’s original pose, though) for the finished cover art on the bottom. Artistically, I’m much more proud of the original than the finished product since it reflects my own artistic ability to a much greater degree.

Even the mighty Tigress cannot resist the fluffy panda belly! So I sketched this out in my sketchpad randomly while watching KFP:LoA. That show is increasing my love of this ship more and more. Even if season 3 decided to give Po an arranged marriage and had Tigress get all mushy with that shrimp samurai. Still, I see Tigress as sort of a Defrosting Ice Queen Tsundere, who is both slowly warming up to Po while at the same time being unwilling to show it. That’s basically what this pic is showing here. Also cuteness. Lots of cuteness.

Song, Ming, and Lu Shi gossip while Master Tigress feigns disinterest. What (or whom) could they be talking about?

  • Question: I am curious...what type of feminist are you? Are you the one that actually tries to go out and fight real oppression in other countries (be it by raising awareness or donating money to organizations trying to help it), or are you one of the feminists that blames everything on men and the patriarchy? - darkmanethewanderer

    feminismismagic:

Well, I’d like to point out that as a college student I don’t really have an opportunity to impact anything in the ways that you’re suggesting, I don’t really have the funds to donate to anything or really do anything on a scale that could make a change besides blogging about my opinions.

I’m just a person that believes in full equality for women, and yes I do think there are problems with the patriarchy. I am 100% against any of the “real” oppression that goes on in other countries, but I am going to admit as a white queer college kid in america, I also do have a lot of feeling about what you would probably consider smaller/less important issues, judging by the tone of this message. If I could find a way to make a difference about the way women are treated in some other countries, I would definitely get behind that. I don’t want to sound like I’m belittling those larger struggles, but from where I am and the scale on which I feel I can affect anything, I’m kind of in a place where everyone knows about the big things like that, and it’s much easier to try to change someone’s mind about slut-shaming and rape culture than it is to try to, like, abolish the sex industry.

So yes, I am the kind of feminist that’s going to sit here and tell you that there are still problems with equality in America, and that just because they’re ingrained in our society that doesn’t make them non-issues. Yes on the big scale they’re less important than girls being mutilated and murdered, but from my frame of view small scale is much easier to access, and also something that shouldn’t just be ignored because “oh, other people have it worse.”

We know that other people have it worse, but if I can change someone’s mind about maybe something they’ve said to a girl in the past, or a hurtful opinion that they’ve had, that’s still a victory. And for me that’s important.

Personally, I find the view that people can only legitimately fight mustache-twirling, femicidal misogyny to be a “good” feminist repulsive. Should I not complain about someone pissing in my drink because people in other countries die of thirst? No, because they’re both still problems that need correction, regardless of the threat to life and limb it presents.
